Wednesday Service
at Pekin Estates
1:30 p.m.
This service is held at Pekin Estates, 1540 El Camino. Sometimes it is in the third floor meeting room opposite the elevator; other times the service is in the library opposite the dining room on the first floor.
This service uses a Litany of Healing as part of the prayers. It also includes anointing with oil and prayer for healing. It is less formal than our Sunday services. A number of residents from other Christian denominations attend this service.
Christian Civic Outreach
Extending Christian charity to those in need is an important ministry at St. Paul’s. For more than 40 years, the parish has supported Christian Civic Outreach in its mission to provide food and clothing for low-income people in Tazewell and Mason counties. Area churches, businesses, clubs, schools and individuals contribute food to the CCO larder throughout the year, but during the month of February, church members at St. Paul’s collect and deliver food, soap and paper products to CCO every week.
In recent years St. Paul’s has begun donating 1% each month to CCO from the church’s general fund. CCO uses the funds for special needs such as overnight lodging, gas and/or transportation or even to help subsidize pharmacy prescriptions.
Church members also volunteer their time at the annual Marigold Festival in early September selling lemonade and water at the CCO booth. Depending on the weather, as much as $1100 has been raised from this effort.
The Diocese of Springfield made a $500 grant to CCO. Here Fr. Brian gives the check to Sandy Callahan our CCO representative.
